We split a pair of strikeout props on Thursday night after one of our picks got rained out, bringing our hot streak to 11-3 in our last 14 picks. Let's finish the week strong with three K props for Friday's MLB slate.
White Sox vs. Phillies, 6:40 p.m. ET
Garrett Crochet has been one of the few bright spots for the Chicago White Sox this season. The left-hander leads MLB with 31 strikeouts through four starts, and he ranks fourth in strikeout rate (35.2 percent) and whiff rate (34.9 percent). This is an ideal matchup against a Philadelphia Phillies lineup that struck out 471 times against lefties last season to lead the league. The Phillies rank fourth this year in chase rate and 29th in chase contact rate, so Crochet should be able to take advantage of their aggressiveness.
Nationals vs. Astros, 6:45 p.m. ET
This number is way too high. MacKenzie Gore is off to a strong start this season with the third-best strikeout rate (35.4 percent) and the fifth-best whiff rate (34.4 percent) in MLB, but his three starts came against three of the most strikeout-prone lineups against left-handed pitching. This won't be as easy, as the Houston Astros are striking out in only 16.9 percent of their at-bats against lefties. Current Astros hitters have a minuscule 11.1 percent K rate and a .467 xwOBA against Gore in 18 career plate appearances.
Tigers vs. Twins, 8:10 p.m. ET
Jack Flaherty got roughed up by the Oakland Athletics in his second start of the season, but he looked sharp in his other two appearances. The Detroit Tigers starter ranks sixth in MLB in whiff rate (34.1 percent) and seventh in chase contact rate (61.0 percent), plus he ranks in the 99th percentile in breaking run value. The Minnesota Twins have the second-highest K rate (27.4 percent) in the league, and they struck out eight times against Flaherty just a week ago.
